I’m Fred Hein, MS, CSP, owner and operator of Breakwater Safety & Compliance, serving businesses throughout Northwest Florida.
For more than 13 years, I’ve led environmental, health, and safety initiatives across complex and highly regulated industries, including manufacturing, food processing, distribution, environmental operations, and aerospace and defense. My experience includes regulatory compliance, risk management, program development, employee training, environmental compliance, and working directly with organizational leadership to strengthen EHS performance.
Why I founded Breakwater
I founded Breakwater with a simple purpose: to bring experienced, professional EHS leadership to businesses that need it without the cost or complexity of building a full-time EHS department.
Breakwater is intentionally owner-operated. When you engage Breakwater, you work directly with me—from the initial assessment through program development, training, and ongoing compliance support. There are no layers of account managers or junior consultants between your business and the professional responsible for the work.
As a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with a Master’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, I understand that effective safety and environmental programs must do more than satisfy a regulation. They must protect employees, reduce organizational risk, support operations, and make sense for the business implementing them.
As a U.S. Air Force veteran, I built Breakwater around the principles that have shaped my career: integrity, accountability, preparation, and service.
